Why Traditional Databases Have Failed the Modern Telecom Environment

In my earlier post, The Database Disillusionment, I examined the evolution of database technology and how the impact of the internet and the subsequent app economy changed the demand and expectations required of databases. I’d like to examine that idea further, using the telecom industry as an example, as Telco’s place unique requirements on their database technology and heavily rely on it for core business functions. 

For each telco, the journey through order-to-cash reveals three distinct data sets and their diverse characteristics, each dictating the appropriate database technology:
